  • Why is the restaurant called “Osaka”?
  • Our restaurants are named after the city of Osaka, legendary for its extraordinarily fresh ingredients... imaginative cuisine... and delicious sake. Osaka’s citizens are described as the kind of people who would spend their last penny on an exquisite meal. We are happy to bring this passion for food to Richmond.
  • Where are you located?
  • We have two locations – in Short Pump next to the cinema, and on Huguenot Road just north of the Huguenot Bridge where River Road,
Cary Street, and Huguenot Road come together.
  • How fresh is your sushi, and why is that important?
  • The fish used in much of the sushi available locally passes through any number of middle men, and can be as much as a week old. Compare that to Osaka, where our seafood is rushed directly to our restaurant from the seas where it is caught. This extraordinary freshness is important because you taste the difference immediately, and because you can depend on the same delicious freshness every time you order.
  • What are your more unusual/signature dishes?
  • Agetofu – Lightly fried tofu
Hamachi Tataki Salad – Lightly seared Yellowtail tuna, sliced paper-thin
Ika Karaage – Marinated deep-fried squid
    Manhattan Roll
    Godiva Tempura Ice Cream
  • What are your most popular dishes?
  • One of our most popular sushi dishes is the Power Roll, a Shrimp Tempura base roll with thinly sliced and lightly seared filet mignon on top, served with Ponzu sauce. Another popular dish is the Grand Mariner Shrimp, which are large shrimp lightly coated then glazed with our chef’s Grand Marnier sauce.
  • What are your recommendations for first time guests?
  • Recommendations for the first time sushi diners, assuming they have had the California roll with spicy Tuna on top, the spicy tuna is made of crabmeat and fresh raw Tuna, slightly puréed with a bit of spiciness. Other recommendations would be the Manhattan Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Bento Boxes.
